The only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.

I think I'm dropping Fables after the latest ark. I haven't been happy with the story for a while and this crossover thing just pissed me off.

I enjoyed the ten Fables trades that are out. It goes right up to the end of the war with The Adversary. And I don't think I need to read beyond that. I very much like what I read, but not to the level that fans seem to hype Fables to. Don't get me wrong, it is a well done series. Very clever. However by the end of it things just didn't seem to deliver. How they resolved the whole Adversary thing wasn't nearly as epic as it seemed it was going to be. It was far too easy for them to cripple what was supposed to be an overwhelmingly powerful empire. And then they make Gepetto a member of Fabletown. They compare themselves to Israel, so wouldn't that be like making Hitler an Israeli? A very weird ending for what was otherwise a fun story.

Then I went and read ahead at what happens after the war. I don't think I am interested in a Fables with Boy Blue You can have your Fables trades back whenever you want them.

Since you have a spot open in the rotation... you ought to try Amazing Spider-man. It is the most consistently good comic I have read over the past year. I don't agree with the Brand New Day schtick. I don't think it was necessary to bring about good Spider-man stories. However it happened and these are good Spider-man stories. It is best not to dwell on why Harry is around and just go with the fact that Aunt May is marrying J. Jonah Jamison's father.

The Idea to drop Fables wasn't so I could fill it with something else, it was to lighten my load. I find my self struggling to read my comics when I get them. So, If I have books that I just don't like no matter what they are I'm going to drop them. This shit is getting expensive, and I just don't have the time for all these books anymore.

Yeah, adding Amazing Spider-man would be like adding three titles since it comes out three times a month, but there hasn't been a bad issue yet. Some arcs slower than others, but none of them bad.

You do buy too much. I keep it to around seven to ten a week. Sometimes more or sometimes less. I read them immediately or by the end of the night. It usually takes me two or three hours and that is all. It is refreshing to have an island of time in the middle of the week where the only thing I am concerned with is what is going to happen to Spider-man while he infiltrates Avengers Tower as Venom or what the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to fuck up next. Don't let reading comics become a chore. They are supposed to be entertainment.

This is, probably, not the opportune time mention a prose Fables novel...
